Biggz knew he had to make shit up to me, so he planned a dinner at one of our favorite spots, Bianca Marie’s, a cozy Italian restaurant downtown. As we pulled up, the glow of the restaurant's sign flickered against the night sky. The tension from our argument three days ago still lingered, but I hoped tonight would ease it.

We walked in, and the familiar smell of garlic and fresh pasta hit us. We settled into a booth, and Biggz reached across the table, taking my hand in his.

“B, I’m sorry,” he started, his eyes sincere. “I know I came at you hard. I was just nervous about what Paris was going to do regarding my daughter.”

I nodded, squeezing his hand. “I get it. Again, I just wanted to help. But I understand now. I should’ve stayed in my lane.”

He smiled, a hint of relief washing over his face. “I love you, Blessyn. More than anything. I know at times, I can be difficult to deal with, but my intentions are always good. Sometimes, it’s just my delivery, ma.”

“I love you, too, and I’m starting to slowly learn that your delivery isn’t the best,” I whispered.

The waitress brought over our food—plates piled high with spaghetti carbonara, lasagna, and garlic bread. We ate in silence for a bit, the comfort of the food easing the tension.

After we finished, Biggz leaned back, looking at me with a serious expression. “I’ve been thinking a lot about us,” he said, reaching into his pocket. My heart skipped a beat as he pulled out a small velvet box. “I know things have been crazy, and I’m not always the easiest nigga to deal with, but you deal with my shit. I want you to know that you’re my rock. I love that you have my back, B. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” He opened the box, revealing a stunning diamond ring. “Pretty Girl, will you marry me?”

My breath caught in my throat. I loved Biggz with all my heart, but I knew we had unfinished business. I wasn’t even legally divorced from Zero yet, and we still had so much shit we needed to get in order.

“Biggz, I… I can’t,” I said softly, shaking my head. His face fell, confusion and hurt flashing in his eyes.

“You telling me no, Pretty Girl?” He scrunched his face up.

“Yes, babe, I am,” I confessed, feeling bad as fuck.

“Why the fuck not?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

“We both have things we need to deal with,” I explained, my heart aching. “You need to figure things out with Paris and your daughter. I need to close some chapters in my life, too. We can’t start a new chapter with unfinished business floating around. I love you with all my heart, and you know that, but―”

He nodded slowly. “I get it, B. I do. It’s fucked up that you don’t think we can get through anything because, to me, we both been through hell and back, especially with Kevlar.
